Sacramento
Although it is not so well known as San Francisco or Los Angeles in terms of its worldwide reputation, Sacramento is the capital of California, and as such is just as important as either of the other two major cities in the state. The city enjoys a great location in the north of the state within easy reach of San Francisco, and many people travel there each year as part of a tour that explores the region by road.
Sacramento has a reputation for being a rather more elegant city than people actually give it credit for, although this has been transformed in recent years thanks to the huge growth of high tech industries in the Silicon Valley area that stretches out of the city towards the coast.
There are plenty of things to see and do in Sacramento including tours of the range of museums and galleries that lie close by and of course the chance to visit one of the many vineyards that the state is famous for.
Sacramento is one of the best places in the USA to enjoy a driving holiday, and it offers a range of different options for anyone who longs for the opportunity to hit the road and explore. Popular options available as a driving tour from Sacramento include the chance to drive south along the Pacific Coast Highway towards Los Angeles in the south of the state, or alternatively to head north towards the Cascadia Mountain range and ultimately the Rockies where you will be able to visit Seattle and enjoy the beauty of British Columbia just over the border in Canada.
Alternatively, if you want to simply explore the city, there is plenty to see and do in Sacramento including the opportunity to visit some great bars and restaurants, or to simply enjoy the live music and other entertainment options that are available each evening in and around this unique and lively city.
Over the past few years, a number of large conferences have become established in Sacramento thanks to its close ties to the technology industry, and these are now one of the main reasons why people travel to the city. It is however important to try and give yourself plenty of time to see all that the area has to offer during your stay, so make sure you stay on a few days extra.
